ARTICLE 1. PRESENTATION
ATRES ADVERTISING, S.L.U. is organising the Zurich Malaga Marathon, which will start at 9 a.m. on 9 December 2018 and may be participated in by anybody of legal age who wishes to take part, without distinction.
ARTICLE 2. APPROVAL
The circuit will measure 42,195 metres and will be duly approved. This race takes place under IAAF and RFEA Road Race Regulations and is on the AIMS calendar. The route will be marked and signposted vertically and horizontally every kilometre.
ARTICLE 3. ROUTE
Pending approval by the different areas of governance of Malaga City Council involved and the Municipal Police Department.
ARTICLE 4. TIMETABLE
The race will start at 9 a.m. and must be completed within a maximum of 6 hours, so the finishing line will be removed at 3 p.m. The category for disabled people in wheelchairs will start at 8.58 a.m.
ARTICLE 5. WHEELED DEVICES
No wheeled device may be used during the race (including handcycles) except for wheelchairs used by disabled athletes, approved by the federation and officially allowed by the organisers. Wheelchair users must wear helmets.
ARTICLE 6. REGISTRATION
6.1. REGISTRATION PERIOD:
From 7 December 2017 until 8 p.m. on Monday 3 December 2018 or until the 8,000 available bibs run out.
6.2. REGISTRATION PRICES AND DEADLINES:
Registration up to 15 December 2017:
- €25 + €5 for a 1-day licence for non-federation runners.
- Disabled people (33% disability): €25.
Registration from 16 December to 31 March 2018 or until available bibs run out:
- €35 + €5 for a 1-day licence for non-federation runners.
- Disabled people (33% disability): €35.
As of 31 March 2018, registration prices and deadlines will be advised on the official website at least 10 days in advance of any change.
6.1.- To be admitted under the disabled category, you will have to attach a certificate to the registration form showing you have more than 33% disability at the time of registration.
Alternatively, you can email a copy of your degree of disability card to the same address.
6.2.- Registration closes at 8 p.m. on 3 December 2018, unless the organisers decide to extend this deadline.
6.3.- HOW TO REGISTER:
Over the internet at www.zurichmaratonmalaga.es in the Registration section.
- Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies full acceptance of the technical regulations for the race, including the Statement of Responsibility included in the same (Appendix 1).
- Once registered, the registration cannot be transferred to another person because of inability to take part in the event or for any other reason, under any circumstance.
- The registration limit for the Zurich Malaga Marathon 2018 is 8,000 runners.
6.5.- CANCELLATION GUARANTEE.
Once registered, the fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstance. When registering, the runner may arrange a cancellation guarantee for their registration and must choose 1 of 3 options when registering:
- 1) I do not want any guarantee
- 2) Standard cancellation guarantee. Costs 10% of the registration fee.
- Refund of 80% of the registration fee or an exchange of registration for the 2019 event up to 30 November 2018.
- 3) Premium cancellation guarantee. Costs 20% of the registration fee. Refund of 100% of the registration fee or an exchange of registration for the 2019 event up to 30 November 2018.
- The cancellation guarantee may only be arranged when registering.
- The fee for the cancellation guarantee is non-refundable.
- No change of ownership will be allowed.
- It must be arranged when registering.
ARTICLE 7. CATEGORIES AND CLASSIFICATIONS
Categories are as follows:
- Junior M/F: Born between 1997 and 2000:
- Senior M/F: Born before 1997 up to Veteran (40 years of age)
- Veteran M 40/F 40: From 40 to 49 years of age
- Veteran M 50/F 50: From 50 to 59 years of age
- Veteran M 60/F 60: From 60 to 69 years of age
- Veteran M 70/F 70: Over 70 years of age
- Disabled people (mixed) in wheelchairs M/F
- Physically/intellectual disabled people (mixed) M/F
* All ages apply to the age of the registrant on the day of the race.
Classifications are as follows:
- Overall Absolute Men and Women.
- Overall Mixed Disabled in Wheelchairs.
- Overall Mixed Physically/Intellectually Disabled.
- Men and Women Grouped by Age.
- Spanish Men and Women.
ARTICLE 8. PRIZES
There will be a trophy for all prizes accompanied—where specified—by a cash prize.
|CASH PRIZES FOR OVERALL INDIVIDUAL CLASSIFICATION|
Prizes (men’s and women’s) will be paid in full as long as the time achieved is faster than 2:16:00 for men and 2:45:00 for women. Otherwise, 50% will be paid.
If the time achieved is slower than 2:27:00 for men and 2:55:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.
|CASH PRIZES FOR MARATHON RECORD|
These prizes may be accumulated with Overall Individual Classification prizes.
If the record for the race is set at faster than 2:10:00 for men or 2:30:00 for women, there will be an additional bonus of €2,000.
|CASH PRIZES FOR SPANISH INDIVIDUAL CLASSIFICATION|
These prizes may be accumulated with Overall Individual Classification prizes and will only be paid when the time achieved is faster than 2:18:00 for men and 2:45:00 for women. Otherwise, 50% will be paid.
If the time achieved is slower than 2:27:00 for men and 2:55:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.
|CASH PRIZES FOR DISABLED CLASSIFICATION|
If the time achieved is slower than 2:10:00 for men and 2:30:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.
Prizes for the physically/intellectually disabled category (men’s and women’s) will be paid in full as long as the time achieved is faster than 2:50:00 for men and 3:20:00 for women. Otherwise, 50% will be paid. If the time achieved is slower than 3:00:00 for men and 3:40:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.
All cash prizes are subject to legally established withholding and to acknowledgement of the time by RFEA. Participants who obtain cash prizes and have had to take a drug test will not be paid until the organisers receive the results of this test.
To collect any prize, athletes must present their Spanish national ID (DNI) or their passport or other official ID.
Athletes who beat national or international records must take a drug test.
A trophy will be awarded to the three clubs with the most athletes to cross the finishing line.
All classifications are under the sole and exclusive authority of the members of the RFEA Panel of Judges.
Complaints in connection with classification places that entail a prize will be submitted in writing to the arbitrator, along with €50, within a maximum of 30 minutes after the classifications are published so that the latter may make a decision on the same. If it is decided that the runner is right, they will be refunded the €50.
All other complaints must be sent by email to: email@example.com before the Wednesday following the race with “For the attention of the arbitrator” in the subject line.
The organisers will announce the arbitrator’s decisions within a maximum of 10 days, as of which time the classifications will be considered final. Therefore, all trophies and prizes will be provisional until then.
ARTICLE 9. BIBS
Bibs may only be collected at the Runner’s Fair, which will take place at the José Mª Martín Carpena Sports Centre. 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday 7 December. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday 8 December.
To collect their bibs, runners must present the confirmation or a copy of their registration and their Spanish national ID (DNI) or their passport or other official ID.
No bibs will be given out on the day of the race.
The bibs must be worn visibly on your front (on your trunk) for the whole race and must not be modified.
The bibs contain a disposable chip, so they may not be folded or modified in any way.
ARTICLE 10. DISQUALIFICATIONS
The following are reasons for disqualification:
- Providing false details when registering (age, residence status, etc.).
- Not completing the entire route.
- Not passing the checkpoints along the route.
- Not wearing the bib visibly on your chest or amending or hiding the advertising on the same.
- Running with a bib and/or chip allocated to another runner.
- Not following instructions given by the judges and/or the organisers’ personnel.
- Having allowed your bib to be photocopied and used by another runner in the marathon.
- Refusing to take a drug test.
- Unsporting behaviour.
ARTICLE 11. REFRESHMENTS
Runners will be provided with refreshments along the route and in the area set up at the finishing line for this purpose.
There will be refreshment stations with water and isotonic drinks at KM 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40.
There will be solid foods at some of the refreshment stations as of KM 20.
ARTICLE 12. MEDICAL CARE
The Zurich Malaga Marathon 2018 will have the necessary medical services for caring for runners while they take part in the race. The organisers recommend that all participants have a medical check-up before the race, and all participants accept the risk derived from the sporting activity.
The athletes, likewise, state that they are physically fit enough to take part in this race and they do so under their own responsibility.
Any athlete with health problems is obliged to notify the organisers of this in writing in advance, to mark their bib with a red cross and to write their name, address, telephone number and health problem on it too. They are obliged (for their own safety) to notify the organisers of this in writing before the day of the race (stating their bib number).
There will be a physiotherapy and chiropody service for the exclusive use of runners who suffer an injury. The physiotherapy service will not be used, under any circumstance, for stress-relieving or relaxation massages.
The medical services have the authority to withdraw any runner who appears to be in poor physical shape.
ARTICLE 13. RESPONSIBILITY
The organisers will be held harmless of all liability arising from the effects, consequences or responsibilities derived from any damage or injury to people or things that may be caused by participants, on account of the race, to themselves or to other people and even if third parties cause harm to a participant, volunteer or member of the organisers’ personnel.
ARTICLE 14. BAGGAGE SERVICE (CLOAKROOM)
The organisers will provide a baggage service where runners can leave their belongings, but they will not be held responsible for any items left.
The organisers’ baggage service personnel may ask runners to open their bags before leaving them so that they can check the contents of the same. If a runner refuses to open a bag, the organisers may refuse to accept this bag.
ARTICLE 15. AUTHORISED VEHICLES
The only vehicles that may follow the race will be those authorised by the organisers. Following the runners in or on any type of motor vehicle or vehicle on wheels (skates, bicycles, etc.) is totally prohibited and Malaga Local Police have express orders to remove these vehicles from the circuit. There will be a broom wagon at the tail of the race to pick up runners that, for whatever reason, do not wish to or cannot continue with the race. Any runners who are not in a condition to be able to finish the race by the time supervision of the activity is set to end must—when instructed by any member of the organisers’ personnel—get into the broom wagon or otherwise abandon the race.
ARTICLE 16. UNAUTHORISED DEMONSTRATIONS
Any type of demonstration that could put the safety of participants and the event at risk is strictly prohibited and any people involved in the same will be removed by the forces of law and order.
ARTICLE 17. ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS
By registering, all participants accept these REGULATIONS and RFEA, FAA, IAAF and AIMS rules. In the event of any doubt, the organisers’ criteria will prevail.
ARTICLE 18. ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLICATION (DATA PROTECTION POLICY)
In compliance with the provisions of article 5 of Spanish Law 15/1999, of 13 December, on Personal Data Protection, we hereby inform you that your personal data (name, surname and email) will be processed and included in a file belonging to Atres Advertising, S.L.U. for the purpose of managing the personal data of the people participating in the different activities and events organised by the company and also for sending via any means, including electronic means, information and advertising regarding the products and services provided by our company and the event sponsors and/or partners. The purpose of collecting and processing the personal data included in the files is to register participants and also to send them information regarding all matters relating to the Zurich Malaga Marathon. Personal data provided and any images that may be taken during the event will be used for the purpose of the event itself and for disseminating information regarding the same and regarding the final race classifications, which list name, surname, category and nationality.
Given that the race forms part of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation Official National and International Calendar and that the agreement with the data processor allows the Federation to use the activity for marketing purposes, the following are expressly authorised: transfer of your data to the Spanish Athletics Federation for their own purposes and the use of images obtained during the event in any format and/or any media (paper, web, communications, video, etc.) in accordance with the purposes expressly agreed to herein.
By registering, you state that you have been informed of the terms and conditions contained herein and expressly consent to your personal data being processed for the aforementioned purposes.
