Half marathon regulation

ARTICLE 1. INFORMATION

ATRES ADVERTISING, SLU with registered office at C / Fuerteventura 12, San Sebastián de los Reyes (MADRID) organises the Zurich Maratón de Málaga, to be held in the city of Malaga on December 9, 2018, starting at 8.30: 00 hours and ending at 2:35 p.m.

The Marathon course is completely on road with a total distance of 42195 m, the course has been officially sanctioned by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (R.F.E.A.).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This event is part of  the Official Race Calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and by registering for the event the participant expressly consents that their basic data be transferred to this entity for the processing, and to the insurance company, for the compulsory insurance of accident and Civil Liability as well as for the management of the day license and data held for the purposes of ranking road races popularity. In accordance with Data Protection Law, the individual party may exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation or provide their objection in writing at the address below or via email to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. ARTICLE 2. THE RUNNING EVENTS.

There will be two races held within the  Marathon, which will have completely independent race categories (prize structure):

Elite race: starts at 08:25

The elite race is reserved for invited athletes and athletes who entered the race with proof of having achieved the time requirements, which are 1:07:00 for men and 1:20:00 for women, and that these were achieved within the last three seasons (results gained since October 30, 2015). Entry into the elite race with proof of the prerequisite time results must be before December 1, 2018, by contacting direcciontecnica@zurichmaratonmalaga.es, providing the link to the official race results where the qualification time was achieved. Only results from the IAAF, AIMS or RFEA calendar of events will be considered valid.

Mass race: starts at 08:35

This is for all participants registered for the event.

 

ARTICLE 3. TIME LIMIT

The maximum time allotted to the half marathon is 3 hours from the start, which means a finish line cut off time of 11:35.

You should say if runners may still finish the race if they miss the cut off time (but won’t be listed in the official results or receive a finishers medal – if that is the case) or if they may be removed from the course if they are not going to hit the cut off time…you should explain what happens

 

ARTICLE 4. AID STATIONS

In accordance with the rules of the I.A.A.F., from 5 Km and every 5 kilometers thereafter,  there will be a aid station providing drinks.

You should say WHAT drinks are available..is it just water or is it sports drink at some stations if so which ones, and are there additional things like bananas or gels? IF yes where are they. Will water be available more often than every 5 k What if it is very hot?

 

ARTICLE 5. THE COURSE

The course will be completely closed to traffic and the only vehicles that will be able to access the course will be those designated by the organisation. Police will expressly sanction unauthorised vehicles and bicycles.

 

ARTICLE 6. ROYAL SPANISH ATHLETICS FEDERATION (RFEA) LICENSE

All participants must be in possession of a federation license or a plus runner’s license, issued by the RFEA (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation), on the day of the race. Those participants who, prior to the race, are not in possession of a federation license or participant pass plus issued by the RFEA, must acquire a one-day federation license during the race registration process.

 

ARTICLE 7. REGISTRATION

7.1. REGISTRATION PERIOD:

From July 3, 2018, until Monday, December 3, 2018, when registration closes at 8:00 p.m. or before if the 4,000 participant places sell out.

7.2. PRICES AND REGISTRATION DEADLINES:

Registration from July 3 to August 31, 2018 or until the available numbers sell out:

20 euros + € 3 for a one-day license for non-federated runners

As of August 31, the price changes and registration deadlines will be notified via the official website at least 10 days prior to any changes are enforced.

 

7.3. TERMS

A.) – From 20:00 on Monday, December 3, 2018, the entry period will be closed, unless the organisation deems it convenient to extend this time frame.

B.) – HOW TO ENTER:

Online, at www.zurichmaratonmalaga.es, in the race entry registration section.

C.) – CONDITIONS:

The entry is personal and non-transferable and implies the total acceptance of the Technical Regulations of the race, including the Declaration of Liability that is included in (Annex 1).

Under no circumstances, once the registration is complete, may the participation be transferred to another person, for any reason.

D.) – CANCELLATION INSURANCE.

Once the registration process has been completed, the registration fee is non refundable. At the time of registration, the participant can however take out a cancellation insurance for the registration fee with the three following options which must be selected at the time of registering for the race:

1) I do not want any insurance.

2) Standard cancellation insurance. Cost is 10% of the entry fee.

Refund of 80% of the entry fee or a deferred entry to the 2019 race, until November 30, 2018.

3) Premium cancellation insurance. Cost is 20% of the entry fee. 100% refund of entry fee or a deferred entry to the  2019 race, until November 30, 2018.

The cancellation insurance can only be taken out at the time of registering for the race.

The cost of the cancellation insurance fee is not refundable

Entries are non transferable.

It is essential to purchase cancellation insurance at the time of registration

 

SECTION 8. INSURANCE

All registered participants will be covered by an Accident Insurance Policy, agreed by the organisation through the RFEA (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation), which will cover accidents that occur as a direct result of the event, but does not cover disease or injury, recklessness, negligence, or occurred from non-observance of the rules and regulations etc., or those injuries subsequent to accidents related to getting to and from the race venue.

 

ARTICLE 9. CATEGORIES

In accordance with the regulations of the R.F.E.A. (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation), there will be the following race categories for male and female participants respectively, arranged according to the participants date of birth.

The categories are as follows:

Junior M / F: Participants born 1997 to 2000:

Senior M / F: Participants born 1997 to Veteran (40 years old)

Veteran M 40 / F 40: Participants aged 40 to 49 years old

Veteran M 50 / F 50: Participants aged 50 to 59 years old

Veteran M 60 / F 60: Participants aged 60 to 69 years old

Veteran M 70 / F 70: Over 70 years old

Disabled (Mixed) in Wheelchair M / F

Disabled (Mixed) Physical / Mental M / F

* All ages indicated refer to the participants age on race day.

 

ARTICLE 10.  RACE NUMBERS

The race numbers are collected at the Running Expo, held at José Mª Martín Carpena Sports Palace, on the times given below:

Friday, December 7th, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

*It is not possible to collect race numbers on race morning.

To collect the race number, the runners will have to present a receipt or copy of the registration, and their DNI, passport or other official document as proof of identification.

The race bibs must be visible on the front of the runner during the entire race and may not be modified.  The bibs contain a timing chip, so do not bend or fold them.

 

ARTICLE 11. PERSONAL HYDRATION

Elite athletes who have personal drinks, must deliver their drinks bottles at the Marathon Information Point, with securely closed lids and the bottles must be clearly marked with the athletes race number and which kilometer point (5, 10, etc) they want the specific bottle placed.

 

ARTICLE 12. TIMING

The timing is provided by usage of a timing chip, the race number contain the timing chip, so it is MANDATORY to use the race number. There will be timing check points at the start, half marathon point, and at the finish, and seven more are placed on the course, all runners must pass all the control mats on the course.

 

ARTICLE 13. DISQUALIFICATIONS

RUNNERS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RACE FOR

Failing to pass all the timing check points.

If the runner does not complete the full course.

For altering or hidding / obscuring the advertising on the race number.

Using another runners race number

For wearing a race number which is not for this 2018 race

Crossing the finish line without a race number

Failure to follow instructions of the judges and / or personnel of the race organisation.

* Disqualified runners automatically lose all eligibility for awards.

 

ARTICLE 14. RESULTS

The race organisation will publish provisional results on its website on December 10, at which time any objection should be lodged. All awards are the sole responsibility of the Judges Committee of the R.F.E.A. Therefore, any objection about the results must follow the correct process available on the official race results page before 20:00 on the Friday after the race. The organisation will communicate the decisions of the Arbitrator within a maximum period of 7 days, after which the results will be considered final.

 

ARTICLE 15. ANTIDOPING

According to IAAF regulations, anti doping testing will be carried out on runners (men and women). The runners selected, must attend the antidoping test and show a official document as proof of identity.  All participants are reminded that the refusal to participate in anti doping tests means automatic disqualification.

 

ARTICLE 16. TROPHIES

Trophies will be awarded to the first three men and women of the elite race, and to the first 3 men and women of the mass participation race.

 

ARTICLE 17. MEDICAL ATTENTION

The Zurich Marathon Malaga 2018 have Medical Services present to tend to participants in the races if necessary. The race organisation recommends all participants have a Medical Examination prior to the race, to ensure participants are ready for the race and are not placed at risk undertaking sporting activity.

Participants assert to be in optimal physical condition to perform the race, and does so at their own risk.

Any athlete with health problems is obliged to notify the race organisation in writing in advance, prior to the race event (for your safety), and mark their race number with a red cross and state their name, address, telephone number and health problem.

It will be possible to have Physiotherapy and Podiatry service, this is exclusively for the runners who have suffered some type of injury. The Physiotherapy service will not be used as a massage service.

The Medical Services will be authorised to remove runners of the course whom they deem unfit to continue the race safely.

 

ARTICLE 18. RESPONSIBILITY AND LIABILITY

The organisation declines all responsibility or liability for the effects, consequences or liabilities derived from the damage, both material and personal, that could occur to the participants,from participation in the race, to themselves, to other people and even in the case of third parties who cause harm to the participant, volunteer or organisational staff.

 

ARTICLE 19. WARDROBE SERVICE

The race organisation will have a cloakroom service where participants can leave their belongings, the organisation takes no responsibility for the objects left in the cloakroom.

The Wardrobe Service staff may request a participant open their bag,  before leaving the bag  under their supervision. Refusal to open a bag if requested to do so, will mean the bag may be refused for cloakroom service.

 

ARTICLE 20. AUTHORISED VEHICLES

The only vehicles that will be able to follow the course will be those accredited by the organisation. It is totally forbidden to follow the runners in any type of motor vehicle or on wheels (skates, bicycles, etc …), the Local Málaga Police have express order to remove any unauthorised vehicle from the course.

There will be a sag vehicle at the end of the race with the last runners, to collect runners who for some reason do not wish to, or are not able to continue the race, or make the race cut off times, they must ride in the sag vehicle, or drop out of the race, and follow the instructions provided by members of the race organisation.

 

ARTICLE 21. UNAUTHORISED PERSONS ON THE COURSE

It is forbidden for people to gather on the course as that could jeopardise the safety of event participants, and people gathering on the course may be forcibly removed by the forces of public order.

 

ARTICLE 22. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

All the participants by their entry registration accept the present rules and regulations of the RFEA, FAA, IAAF and AIMS. In case of doubt, the criteria of the race organisation will prevail.

 

ARTICLE 23. ACCEPTANCE OF THE DATA PROTECTION POLICY

In compliance with the provisions of Article 5 of the Organic Law 15/1999, of December 13, on the protection of personal data, we inform you that your personal data (Name, surname and email address) will be processed and incorporated into a file held by Atres Advertising, SLU the purpose of which is the management of personal data of people who participate in the different activities and events organised by the company, as well as sending through any means, including electronic, information and advertising products and services. our company and those of the sponsors and / or partners of the event. You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation or objections regarding the usage of your personal data by sending a written statement, enclosing a photocopy of your ID or passport, to the Office of consultation for personal data files, located at Avda. The collection and processing of personal data, incorporated into the files, is intended for the registration of participants, as well as to provide information related to the Malaga marathon. Personal data provided, as well as any images captured during the event, will be used for the purpose of the event itself, as well as for the dissemination of the event and the publication of the final results of the event in which will appear, name, surname, category and nationality.

The race belongs to the Official National and International Calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and that in the contract signed between the person and the entity the following cessions are foreseen; expressly authorise: release of your data to the Spanish Athletics Federation for the fulfillment of its purposes; and the use of the images obtained during the race event to be used in any type of format and / or

means of dissemination (paper, web, communications, video, etc …) in accordance with the purposes themselves hereby explicitly consented.

When you register, you declare that you have been informed of the terms contained therein and expressly consent that your personal data be processed for the aforementioned purposes.
